Have You Been Scammed On Your Puppy Purchase? Tell Me Your Story

This is a call to anyone who has been scammed during your purchase of a puppy. Either you didn’t receive a puppy, just lost your money or you were taken for a ride by a so-called breeder and ended up purchasing a sick puppy.

I don’t care if you found the breeder online, in your local paper or through a basic internet search. I want to hear your stories.

Here is the information that I want you to provide:

1. Give your first name and the State that you reside in.
2. Give the kennel name that you purchased from.
3. Give a brief synopsis of the problem you had. (was the dog sick, lack of promised paperwork, etc.)
4. Did you contact the breeder and what was their response?
5. Did you have a contract prior to purchase?
6. At what point during the period of initial contact to transaction completion did you a) see the contract, b) sign the contract, c) received the copy of the contract?
7. Did the breeder offer to abide by their contract but you wanted a different resolution?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Gail,
I am sorry to hear about this. You could attempt to take legal action against them. I understand that you are not in the same state but you can still go after him legally. Right now it doesn’t sound like a contract dispute, more like out and out fraud. If he is in Arizona, you can contact one of the news stations there. Channel 3 news has a 3 on your side type thing and I believe their Fox 10 news will do something as well. I would definitely follow-up. Did you get a contract from them (signed)?

    Hi,
Yes it is out and out Fraud. He has a new website up right now, victimizing innocent
people every day !! He is a big Liar, he advertises 3-4 lbs. his dogs turn out to be
8 to 10 lbs. That is Fraud , He does need to be stopped.
In April I reported him to the Indiana Attorney General, and the Indiana State Police
and the cyber.gov and the FTC.
One of the girls in Calif. has been in contact with the State Police in Indiana and she
said they are ON HIS TRAIL.. investigating every detail.

Bill and Catherine Knell have victimized people all over the US and Canada,
It is so Sad that these people are getting away with this !!
You Fall in Love with a puppy that you will Never See!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And be out of Money !!!!

    Hi,
I have recently been in this fraud it actually accured between August 4 to august 7. I was reported that this man had two dogs. He continuely sends me emails gives me his phone number etc. I have called him and everytime he tells me there is something wrong. I sent him 300.00 and he asked for more.. and I stopped him there. I didnt go any further. I let him know i know this was fraud. His name is Anthony Tening. He also gave me an address in the cameroon airport that he claims is a pet shipping company. Im so hurt and confused this dog scam needs to stop and these people need help. there sickos. I made the most stupidest mistake to go and order the dog first off. But still its inmoral to do that.

    Hello,

This fraud thing is the worst! I was taken by Anthony Tening yesterday (should’ve done my research first, then acted). I wanted a teacup yorkie, found 2, just pay shipping. Sounded great at 2 in the morning. I emailed him. He was asking $120 for shipping, I thought this was wonderful. I wired the money, everything was ready to go. Then I get a call about needed more money for the temerature controlled crate (nothing was EVER said about that). OK, makes sense, $480, By this time I told my husband that we were expected a puppy. We got on google, and then my heart broke. Now, we’re getting calls from this shipping company wondering when we can pay for the crate, and the insurance. We decided to play his game and try to con my money back from him. Needless to say, it didn’t work, tried offering double, if he refunded the $120 back. My husband emailed him and called him a few choice words, and told him to rot in he**. Then the airport called back, and he got a few words in his ear.

To end my sad story of this evil Halloween day, I did find a teacup yorkie, for sale, just a few streets away.

My advice to ANYWAY looking to buy a puppy, look in your area. IF you CANNOT hold the puppy and take it with you when you leave, then you’re probably better off.

Please feel free to email me, I will gladly share my experience with you!

    Dear people,

Don’t be so trusting. I have a puppy that I located via Puppyfind. I found a breeder there within driving distance because I was unwilling to pay a “reputable breeder” a thousand or more for a breed that I wanted – the reputable breeder also had a long questionnaire with requirements and contractual agreements I would have to sign. I wanted a pet – not a lifelong commitment to the breeder. I made a choice to buy a pup with no champion in his bloodlines and no contract with the breeder at a very reasonable price. I am quite convinced that this breeder does breed to enhance his income, and sells the pups too young, but these were choices I made. I love my dog (now 9 months old), he is a bright and pretty dog, not perfect to breed standard, but a joy and a blessing. Look for breeders within driving distance, go there, meet the breeder and parents of the pups and make a reasonable personal choice and don’t purchase small breeds before 8-9 weeks old.

PS – I had left feedback on Puppyfind on the Breeder with a less than perfect score because he does sell pups too young and I was ignorant of the risks. My feedback and less than perfect score are NOT on the site anymore. Beware on that point.

Happy Hunting and Blessing to you all!
